Department: Manufacturing Location: La Porte, Texas Travel Involved: 0% Job Type: Full Time Description: The Board Operator plays a leadership role in all facets of production and related loading/unloading operations while ensuring compliance with environmental, health and safety policies. The Board Operator is responsible for supporting the unit to ensure is safe, reliable, and environmentally sound operation of the facility. Board operators are in this position because they have demonstrated strong technical skills, leadership skills, the entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to adapt to change. Board Operators maintain certification on Board and Outside Operations roles and are expected to perform these tasks when needed.

Requirements

  • 5 + years of plant experience required
  • Board operator certification/experience
  • Candidates must be currently eligible to work in the United States without the need for any type of sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Be a role-model for entrepreneurial/educational leadership.
  • Drive and maintain excellence in the tactical operation of the facility effectively utilizing all team technical knowledge and experience.
  • Help process Operators on his/her respective shift gain the knowledge and skills needed to accept greater levels of responsibility and continuously develop.
  • Makes decisions in the best interest of the entire organization.
  • Ensure all policies are followed, including the Code of Conduct and Employee Handbook.
  • With the Shift Supervisor, work to optimize and manage OT while following the OT policy, along with tracking sick time and personal leave to prevent trends in negative work behavior.
  • Maintain the shift work schedule, approve vacation calendars, and approve timesheets and makes notification of direct reports personal illness situations to P&O.
  • With the shift supervisor, supervises a crew of operators who start up and stabilize operations.
  • Has authority to direct all activities to maintain safe and efficient operation.
  • Instructs unit operators of actions to be performed for the operation and control of the lines.
  • With the shift supervisor, provides daily planning and scheduling of operators to ensure safe, efficient, and quality operations are obtained.
  • Serve as a shift resource to Drive safety and quality excellence and improvement.
  • Function as a key interface between maintenance, contractors, and production.
  • Monitor the status of the facility and lead the team in setting priorities for the work activities.
  • Communicate and interface across all functions concerning safety, plant operations, repairs, and scheduling to meet supply chain and customer requirements.
  • Serve as a technical resource for team members – Assists team members when planning work, troubleshooting process deviations or upsets, leading startup and shutdown activities, and managing emergency situations.
  • Require that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are followed by all operators.
  • Understands Emergency Response procedures.
  • Reviews emergency operating procedures and emergency equipment and its use.
  • Incident command for site/area emergencies.
  • Ensures TERs are submitted where applicable.
  • Prepares equipment for maintenance and coordinates the work with maintenance craftsmen to ensure that the work is performed safely and to maintain continuity of operation.
  • Order and bill railcars and hopper cars
  • Ensuring shift activities are complete by utilizing the following tools: IMPACT and TER entries LDAR Reports Maintenance Daily Work Schedule SAP and work order notifications.
  • Team members current with BeUx assignments
  • Operator Tablet, Rounds, and FlowFinity Round Exception Reports
  • Night Orders/Daily Information
  • Email requests
  • Participate in the TIPPS safety program
