About The Position

The Purification Board Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of LNG Purification systems from the control room using the Distributed Control System (DCS).This role is accountable for maintaining feed gas quality within specification, protecting downstream liquefaction equipment, and ensuring stable and compliant operation of all ISBL purification units. Operating strictly from the control room, this position monitors, controls, and optimizes Acid Gas Removal (AGR), Dehydration, Mercury Removal, and associated purification systems to support uninterrupted LNG production. The Purification Board Operator plays a critical role in start-ups, shutdowns, upset response, and emergency operations by maintaining full situational awareness of process conditions and executing approved operating procedures. This position is located in Brownsville, TX and requires disciplined operations and strict adherence to HSSE and process safety standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TWIC
  • Minimum 5 years of LNG operations experience with control room exposure
  • Demonstrated experience operating LNG Purification systems including:
  • AGR
  • Dehydration
  • Mercury Removal
  • Prior qualification as a Board Operator in LNG Purification systems at a large-scale LNG facility
  • Strong understanding of LNG purification processes and process safety
  • Proficient with DCS systems and standard computer applications
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and operating procedures
  • Strong decision-making and situational awareness
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Commissioning & Start-Up (CSU)
  • Experience on large-scale LNG projects

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor all DCS-controlled LNG Purification systems within the ISBL scope, including:
  • Acid Gas Removal (AGR)
  • Dehydration Units
  • Mercury Removal Systems
  • Associated purification utilities
  • Maintain feed gas quality within specification to protect downstream cryogenic and liquefaction systems
  • Monitor critical process parameters including:
  • Pressure
  • Temperature
  • Flow
  • Composition
  • Moisture content
  • Unit performance trends
  • Identify abnormal operating conditions early and take corrective action within defined authority limits
  • Execute start-ups, shutdowns, transitions, and upset recovery in accordance with approved operating procedures
  • Respond promptly and decisively to alarms, trips, and emergency situations
  • Escalate process deviations or operating limit concerns Shift Supervisor
  • Maintain accurate shift logs, turnover notes, and operational documentation
  • Monitor system health to ensure safe, stable, and efficient purification performance
