About The Position

This role will work specifically in an acute psychiatric inpatient setting with a multidisciplinary team. The psychiatric units will serve patients with general psychiatric needs. Designing and conducting functional behavior assessments with children and adolescents for behaviors that interfere with medical treatment. Training staff, families and caregivers on the implementation of behavioral techniques for patients during their hospital admission. Provides consultation to interdisciplinary teams related to behavior analytic needs and provide education regarding the role of ABA in the hospital setting.

Requirements

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst - Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) - upon hire - Required
  • Master's Degree Psychology, Behavioral Analysis or Education Required
  • At least two (2) years post-masters experience providing behavior analysis treatment including experimental functional analyses, data analysis, significant behavior challenges and intensive behavior intervention programming in line with current research standards. Required
  • At least two (2) years experience providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Required
  • At least one (1) year supervised experience in 1:1 education of learners with autism across educational and community settings, as well as familiarity with designing, participating in, or supervising in-home 1:1 programs for young children with autism, collecting, graphing, analyzing, displaying and discussing data based progress Required

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a range of behavioral assessments (i.e. functional behavior assessments, including functional analyses as needed, treatment assessments).
  • Develop function-based behavior support plans in the hospital setting by implementing function-based strategies to address behavioral concerns.
  • Implement non-standard functional analyses and demonstrate ability to adapt functional analysis protocol in a hospital environment.
  • Recommend appropriate functionally equivalent replacement behaviors.
  • Conduct staff training and workshops on principles and technologies of applied behavior analysis.
  • Conduct behavior skills training for staff on implementation of behavior support plans.
  • Complete frequent integrity assessments and provide feedback to ensure fidelity to behavior support plans.
  • Provide clinical supervision and oversight to Registered Behavior Technicians assigned to the inpatient psychiatric unit, inclusive of competency assessment and performance feedback and reviews.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and any other meetings required.
  • Work interactively and sensitively with parents to provide training and support in the context of the hospital admission.
  • Demonstrates competency and expertise in the principles and practice of applied behavior analysis. This includes the current BACB Task List and the Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts.
  • Documenting in Epic progress notes and reports in a clear, concise, efficient manner. Please refer to closing encounter policy with the department for requirements.
  • Participate in hospital-wide committees to provide behavior analytic perspective related to patient care.
  • Participate in QI projects related to behavioral health objectives.
  • Promote behavior analytic work within the CHOP Enterprise as well as in greater medical and behavioral health communities.
  • Provide supervision to trainees
