The BCBA provides behavior-analytic consultation and direct services to support students with behavioral, developmental, and academic challenges in the public school setting. This role involves collaborating with school teams to design, implement, and monitor individualized, evidence-based Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs); promote positive behavioral outcomes; enhance access to instruction; support staff training; and ensure compliance with IDEA, district policies, and the Connecticut Guidelines and Professional Standards for BCBAs in Schools.

  • Serve as Lead BCBA for the district and any specialized programs (e.g., ABA classrooms, Life Skills programs), supporting program design and implementation.
  • Support school-wide behavioral programs and contribute to a positive school climate.
  • Participate in student support systems, including IEP meetings, MTSS/RTI teams, and parent conferences.
  • Responsible for supervising Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to ensure the accurate and effective implementation of behavior analytic interventions.
  • Provide ongoing training, support, and guidance to RBTs, maintaining compliance with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) standards of practice.
  • Provide ongoing consultation and coaching to teachers, paraprofessionals, RBTs, and support staff to ensure consistent and ethical application of behavioral supports.
  • Train and model implementation of behavioral strategies, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and trauma-informed practices.
  • Deliver professional development to school staff on behavioral supports, data use, ABA principles, and ethical practices.
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), ecological assessments, and other evaluations in alignment with IDEA, Connecticut guidelines, and best practices.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) that are data-driven, evidence-based, and culturally responsive.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation planning, and train staff in crisis prevention techniques.
  • Design and oversee systems for behavioral data collection that guide instructional decisions and measure intervention effectiveness.
  • Analyze behavioral and instructional data at individual, classroom, and school-wide levels to inform strategies and promote student progress.
  • Collaborate actively with IEP/504 teams, families, and other multidisciplinary teams to identify student needs, develop proactive supports, and align services.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in compliance with district policies, state/federal regulations, and BACB ethical standards.
  • Ensure all interventions and supports adhere to the BACB's Professional and Ethical Compliance Code.
  • Credentialed as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) by the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
  • Master's degree required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience preferred.
