About The Position

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) conducts functional assessments, generates related Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs), and ensures the effective implementation of the PBSP through staff training and consultation. The BCBA also interacts with program participants and so must be familiar with the Guiding Values issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDCS). At all times, the BCBA will seek to act in accord with the principles and values expressed and uphold the agency mission.

Requirements

  • Must be currently certified as a BCBA with the Behavior Analytic Certification Board.
  • Individuals waiting to take the BACB exam will be considered on an individual basis.
  • Training and clinical experience in providing applied behavior analysis required.
  • Analytical skills necessary to synthesize a variety of clinical and social data to determine appropriate intervention strategies and monitor the effectiveness of those strategies.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance, including individual differences in ability, personality, and interests, as well as learning, motivation, and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, and the history and origins of various ethnicities and cultures.
  • The ability to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong and take action by notifying the appropriate personnel.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and use software to create workflow efficiencies and centralize data storage or collection.
  • Able and willing to attend required training classes, agency meetings, seminars, or other assigned activities relevant to the agency’s mission.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing and orally so that others will clearly understand
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • A Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Current BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) certification.
  • A Washington State Driver’s License and current vehicle insurance.
  • Candidates must be able to be covered on Alpha Supported Living Services’ automobile insurance based upon their driving record.
  • Background inquiry clearance from an authorized state agency.
  • As of 10-18-21 all workers in Long-Term Care are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

  • Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Functional Assessments and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP) for assigned clients.
  • Report on behavioral data collected by DSPs to monitor effectiveness and identify patterns.
  • Track and graph trends in behavioral data to facilitate objective decision-making.
  • Modify and renew plans every 6 months to ensure strategies reflect current client needs.
  • Oversee compliance with DDCS, WAC, and RCW regulations, including "Exceptions to Policy" for restrictive interventions.
  • Teach and mentor staff and supervisors on the proper implementation of behavior plans.
  • Facilitate Behavioral Skill Trainings (BST) to ensure team competency in supporting participant needs.
  • Provide real-time clinical consultation, crisis management, and debriefing as requested.
  • Ensure all internal employees are properly trained to meet specific participant requirements.
  • Coordinate with all involved parties to discuss target behaviors and necessary changes to the client's home environment.
  • Meet directly with clients to understand their personal needs and individual histories.
  • Collaborate across different teams and branches, including supportive living units and educational professionals.
  • Adapt communication styles to effectively engage with a diverse range of staff, supervisors, and family members.
  • Attend individual DDCS Assessment (PCSP) meetings to provide clinical input and recommendations.
  • Maintain BCBA credentials, CEU requirements, and state-specific licenses (Driver’s License, Insurance, Registration).
  • Complete annual mandatory training, including First Aid/CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Mandated Reporter training.
  • Operate and maintain a vehicle in safe condition for regular travel between sites.
  • Participate in staff meetings, seminars, and other assigned training requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned on a daily basis for policy and operational needs
