About The Position

Since 1964, Miller's Health Systems, a 100% employee-owned company, has provided compassionate care to Indiana families. The company offers a free training program for individuals aspiring to become Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). This program requires students to complete both classroom instruction and a clinical practicum. Upon successful completion of the training and passing the state exam, students will earn their Certified Nurse's Aide certification. The classroom component involves 36-40 hours of work, where students must achieve an 80% passing score on all tests within three attempts. Failure to meet this standard in the classroom phase will prevent progression to the clinical portion. The clinical practicum mandates 75 hours of supervised training within a long-term care facility, during which students must successfully perform all required skills. The initial 16 hours of practicum are conducted with the class instructor, and attendance during this period is mandatory, with absence leading to dismissal. Students may be assigned a preceptor to assist with organization and time management during clinicals. All skills checklists (RCPs) not signed during classroom instruction must be demonstrated and signed off by a clinical instructor or other licensed nursing professional during clinicals, and submitted upon completion to qualify for the state exam. Students are also required to maintain a daily 'clinical sign-in record,' completed by the student and co-signed by a qualified licensed supervisor, detailing the date and actual hours worked. Additionally, students must pass a criminal background check, a TB test, and a physical before starting the course. Mandatory attendance for all classroom sessions is enforced to meet Indiana State Department of Health program requirements, and unsatisfactory performance or attendance can result in dismissal. Successful graduates receive a certificate of completion and, if hired and in good standing as an employee of Miller's Merry Manor, will have their first state exam fee paid for, with a second attempt also covered if needed. Non-employees will receive their application and certificate to schedule and pay for their own exam.
