About The Position

The BMT Clinical Data Specialist at Mayo Clinic is responsible for ensuring efficient data entry and retrieval within the department's databases. This role involves providing consultation and mentoring on database usage, conducting quality control monitoring, and creating reports for various registries and projects. The specialist will also participate in meetings, assist with accreditation readiness, and manage data reporting in compliance with federal regulations.

Requirements

• Two year college degree in related field or equivalent experience (2 years of experience in a healthcare environment).
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Self-directed and flexible.
• Strong knowledge of computers and database functions.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and other PC software.
• Clerical training experience required.
• Medical terminology class preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate efficient and consistent entry and retrieval of data in department or Center database(s).
• Provide consultation, advice, and skill mentoring regarding database structure, use, and report writing.
• Collaborate with staff in technical troubleshooting and enhancement request prioritization.
• Set data goals for the program annually.
• Provide training and training materials to database users to ensure data integrity.
• Carry out quality control monitoring of all data entry.
• Perform complex data entry tasks, including abstracting data from medical records.
• Create and maintain reports for various registries and projects.
• Participate in organizational and medical staff meetings, facilitating weekly BMT meetings.
• Assist in all phases of FACT accreditation/regulatory readiness.
• Maintain a joint database and BMT intranet website for program operation.
• Report information in a timely manner to necessary organizations as instructed by the Program Director/Medical Director.
• Prepare and present Data Management Quality Management reports and audits.
