Under general supervision, performs the full range of duties required to assist the provider during surgical invasive and non-invasive radiographic imaging and performs a diverse range of other diagnostic radiology work on a wide variety of patients. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

  • Assist the provider during surgical invasive and non-invasive radiographic imaging.
  • Perform a diverse range of diagnostic radiology work on a wide variety of patients.
  • Receive or escort patients into examination area if needed.
  • Review pertinent patient information and instruct patients concerning the procedure if necessary.
  • Assist provider during all special procedures studies (e.g., angiograms, vena cavagrams, advanced orthopedics) to provide optimal diagnostic/special radiology examinations.
  • Operate highly sophisticated electronic equipment during exams (c-arm, Oarm, and Hybrid room) in the surgical suite.
  • Observe patient vital signs and other pertinent data, anticipating the needs of the physician.
  • Administer or assist in the administration of radiopharmaceuticals under the direction of the provider.
  • Work as a radiologic technologist in other radiology sections as workload requires.
  • Perform maintenance and quality control work on all equipment.
  • Immediately report any malfunctions, necessary adjustments, or repairs.
  • Perform first aid as required and assist in cases of adverse reactions to contrast media or in other emergencies.
  • Maintain appropriate supply levels in their area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate or oversee on-the-job training for student technologists and other non-professional assistants as assigned.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Prefer 1 year of additional training and experience.
  • Registered ARRT; Registry Eligible technologist must receive registration within 6 months of hire date.
  • Successful completion of requirements for orientation including Hospital, Core, and Department specific orientation.
  • BLS required within 6 months of hire date.
  • Demonstrate excellent human relation skills to deal with patients, physicians, and others in sometimes difficult or sensitive situations.
  • Must have a customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrate leadership and organization skills including the ability to work independently and take initiative within established procedures.
  • Ability to operate and perform basic computer programs associated with record keeping in the department.
