About The Position

The BMH Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery is a part-time position working the night shift (7p-7a) at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Under general supervision, the registered nurse manages care delivery for patients throughout their stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge. This includes utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation, and evaluation; coordinating care with other professionals; delegating tasks; providing physical care; and documenting patient responses and needs. The role requires competencies specific to the population served and adherence to the Michigan Public Health Code.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred, must obtain within 8 years of hire.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the State of Michigan.
• BLS certification required by completion of core orientation.
• Critical care or ALS certification required for some RNs.

Responsibilities

• Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patients’ health or situation.
• Assess the patient’s physical and developmental needs.
• Analyze assessment data to identify appropriate patient needs.
• Document nursing history and age-appropriate physical/emotional needs/strengths for assigned patients.
• Review vital signs to assess the condition of the patient and detect deviations from normal.
• Develop a plan that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
• Implement appropriate interventions and administer prescribed medication.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of planned interventions and document patient responses.
• Participate in quality improvement activities.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and other health disciplines.
