About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Medical Assistant/Certified Medical Assistant to join our team! The role involves helping patients by providing clinical and business office assistance in the offices and clinics of health care providers, such as physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, and optometrists.

Requirements

• High School diploma
• Prefer graduation of a post-secondary medical assisting program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES
• 6-12 month clinical experience
• BLS certification within two weeks of hire
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
• Exceptional customer service and telephone etiquette
• Ability to work independently and with groups/teams
• Attention to detail and ability to assimilate large amounts of information

Responsibilities

• Uses computer applications
• Answers telephones
• Greets patients
• Updates and files patient medical records
• Codes and fills out insurance forms
• Schedules appointments
• Arranges for hospital admissions and laboratory services
• Handles correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping
• Performs all administrative duties in a clinic or office
• Takes medical histories
• Administers basic first aid
• Explains treatment procedures to patients
• Prepares patients for examination
• Takes vital signs
• Assists the physician during exams
• Collects and prepares laboratory specimens
• Performs basic laboratory tests
• Instructs patients about medication and special diets
• Prepares and administers medications non-invasive medication as directed by a physician and supervised by a licensed person
• Operates office medical equipment
• Removes sutures and changing dressings
• Participates in periods of emergency
• Performs specified and approved aseptic techniques
