About The Position

Operate the Blue Bridge, located in a high traffic area of canal park, in a safe, effective and positive manner.

Requirements

• There are no minimum education requirements for this position.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Respond courteously and promptly to customer needs.
• Ability to ensure a high level of customer service.
• Ability to adapt to changes, delays, or unexpected events.
• Ability to sit in enclosed space for hours at a time.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Successful completion of reference checks
• Successful completion of a background check
• Successful completion of a drug test, if applicable

Responsibilities

• Uses control panel to perform Blue Bridge operations.
• Signal boats and pedestrians when bridge is being raised.
• Communicate with boat captains, as needed, via a VHF marine radio.
• Open and close safety gate any time the bridge is in operation.
• Positively represent Duluth when supplying information to pedestrians such as locations of attractions, restaurants and facilities.
• Be very familiar with events and times at the DECC, William A. Irvin, and Canal Park, maximize access for those patrons.
• Be knowledgeable about current events and entertainment happening in the Duluth area
• Keep the Blue Bridge Booth neat, tidy and clean.
• Respond promptly to customer requests for service or assistance, when appropriate.
• Follow safety and security procedures; Report potentially unsafe conditions to the police.
• Must be able to work alone for long periods of time.
• Additional duties as assigned.
