About The Position

Copart is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Vehicle Mechanical Inspector & Light Repair Technician to conduct comprehensive mechanical inspections of vehicles, ensuring their roadworthiness and contributing to the accurate representation of vehicles in auctions. This role emphasizes customer service, collaboration with team members, and adherence to safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in automotive technology or a related field preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Proven experience in automotive mechanical inspection, diagnostics, and light repair work, preferably in a dealership or automotive repair shop.
  • ASE Certifications A1, A4, A5 are a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems and components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools, and computerized systems for vehicle inspection and repair tasks.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional education or certification in automotive technology or a related field.
  • ASE Certifications A4, A5.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to assess their mechanical condition, including engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, and other essential components.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical issues and accurately document findings for transparent disclosure to potential buyers.
  • Record inspection results and repair activities accurately using Copart's proprietary software systems.
  • Adhere to Copart's standards and guidelines for mechanical inspections and repair work, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of vehicle assessments.
  • Collaborate with other team members to facilitate effective communication and workflow coordination.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders, addressing inquiries and concerns related to vehicle mechanical condition.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
