About The Position

The Blood Puller is responsible for collecting and processing biological samples from poultry in field and farm environments. This includes drawing blood, extracting fat samples, swabbing birds, collecting water samples, and gathering bacteria samples. This position requires routine travel using a company vehicle and plays a key role in supporting flock health monitoring and laboratory testing.

Requirements

  • Highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Must have an excellent driving record and a current, valid driver’s license
  • Able to work in hot, high‑humidity, dusty environments
  • Willingness to work abnormal or extended hours as needed
  • Ability to accurately complete paperwork for laboratory submissions
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively with others
  • Strong work ethic with excellent safety and attendance history
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to retrieve and handle bird bodily fluids as part of routine duties
  • Must possess: Valid driver’s license in good standing to operate a company vehicle.
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to multitask and work quickly in a fast-paced environment, have good communication skills, ability to comprehend instructions and apply common sense, have strong attention to detail, and must be a team player.
  • Physical requirements: Ability to work in a refrigerated environment with temperatures ranging from 10°F to 40°F, s tanding for extended periods of time, and able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must ahere to all company biosecurity protocols
  • Must be comfortable working around live poultry
  • Must maintain professionalism while working on farms and interacting with growers

Responsibilities

  • Routinely collect and process blood, culture, and tissue samples from poultry
  • Complete all required paperwork for laboratory submission of samples
  • Assist with placement of pullet flocks as needed
  • Collect blood, fat samples, and swabs for bird movement and health monitoring
  • Collect water samples and perform other routine sampling procedures
  • Safely operate a company vehicle to travel between farms and facilities
  • Follow all company safety, biosecurity, and animal handling guidelines
