About The Position

The position involves inspecting vehicles and documents as mandated by CCHC policies, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations while maintaining required DOT documentation. The role also includes maintaining the cleanliness of the bloodmobile for scheduled blood drives and conforming to drug and alcohol screening laws. The individual will drive company vehicles to transport supplies and equipment to and from blood drive sites, assist with setup and breakdown of equipment, and perform donor registrations while accurately recording data in the computer system. Ensuring satisfaction of all users of the department's services according to the hospital's customer service standards is essential. The position requires maintaining a clean and sanitary work area, reporting any vehicle issues to the Supervisor, and consistently providing service excellence to all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
  • Proficient in using a computer and laptop.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Current valid Massachusetts and Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class B with an Air Brake Endorsement required.
  • Current medical exam certificate as required by CDL/DOT regulations.
  • Driving record free from conviction, moving violations, and at-fault points for four years prior to hire.
  • Obtain Basic Life Support Certificate within thirty (30) days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Course in medical terminology preferred.
  • Prior commercial driving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects vehicles and documents as mandated by CCHC policies and applicable laws.
  • Maintains bloodmobile cleanliness for scheduled blood drives.
  • Conforms to drug and alcohol screening laws and regulations.
  • Drives company vehicles to transport supplies and equipment to blood drive sites.
  • Assists with setup and breakdown of equipment at blood drives.
  • Performs donor registrations and accurately records data in the computer system.
  • Ensures satisfaction of all users of the department's services.
  • Assists with filtering blood and packing units for courier pickup.
  • Maintains work areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Maintains knowledge of departmental and hospital policies.
  • Reports vehicle accidents, damage, and inoperative equipment to Supervisor.
  • Informs Supervisor of any motor vehicle infractions or changes in driving ability.
  • Consistently provides service excellence to all stakeholders.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
