The Northwell Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible MD or DO Physician to join our team as the Assistant/Associate Director of Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, a tertiary hospital located in Long Island, NY. Additionally, the selected candidate will serve as the Director of Blood Bank at Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC). This position is ideal for individuals who have completed accredited fellowship training in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine and hold American Board of Pathology (ABP) certification or eligibility in Clinical Pathology and Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. The role requires a valid New York State Medical License and Certificate of Qualification in Transfusion Services. In this position, you will provide safe, visible, and accessible clinical services in a tertiary hospital transfusion and therapeutic apheresis service. Your work will support a diverse range of patients, including those in pediatric and adult hematology, oncology, trauma, hematopoietic cell transplants, neurology, and obstetrics. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements set forth by CAP, AABB, the New York State Department of Health, the FDA, and other regulatory agencies. Furthermore, you will interact closely with the Northwell Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the Transfusion Medicine Service Line, contributing to a collaborative and innovative healthcare environment.
