About The Position

MHY Family Services is looking for passionate individuals to join their team to support their Multisystemic Therapy (MST) program. MHY Family Services (MHY) is a non-profit organization, over 140 years old, that provides support and services through educational and community-based programming primarily in Western PA. MHY strives to meet the changing needs of at-risk youth and their families through a practical and holistic approach to treatment, helping youth and families learn skills to manage trauma-based issues and re-engage with home, school, and community. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing paperwork to be done from home with office space available if preferred. The role involves working in small teams with small caseloads to ensure quality work. MHY is a family-oriented non-profit agency. The therapist will serve at-risk youth aged 9-18 who are at risk of or have experienced abuse or neglect, have serious emotional, mental, or behavioral disturbances (including problem sexual behavior), and are involved in the juvenile justice system. In partnership with MHY's contract psychiatric services, the therapist provides individual counseling, group counseling, and supports residents with family counseling.

Requirements

  • Related Master's degree
  • Demonstrated experience in youth direct care services
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Current Act 33, 34 and FBI Clearances
  • Current PA state driver's license with an insurable driving record
  • Demonstrated PC skills including common MS Office applications
  • Concrete knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma-Informed Care as applied to high risk groups
  • Ability to work some flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a caseload of children and their families as assigned by the supervisor, in accordance with State and County regulations.
  • Provides home-based sessions with clients and families as scheduled.
  • Completes all documentation within one week of its reporting period, including but not limited to: ISPs, ISP Reviews, ISP Addendums, consent forms, psychosocial evaluations, PCP letters, and release of information authorizations.
  • Conducts individual therapy sessions for clients as required.
  • Documents therapy progress notes during sessions, reflecting treatment goals; obtains resident signature, as appropriate.
  • Applies the reasonable and prudent parent standard to decisions involving the participation of a child in age or developmentally-appropriate activities.
  • Prepares for group therapy sessions as scheduled, including the completion of appropriate research and utilization of group materials.
  • Facilitates group therapy session including the documentation of group notes for each resident, reflecting treatment goals.
  • Supports and ensures the delivery of treatment recommendations as set forth by the psychiatrist and treatment team.
  • Completes referrals as needed for outside providers and submit to appropriate provider.
  • Completes documentation as necessary for State, County and managed care audits within one week, including the appropriate correction of any errors and completion of paperwork.
  • Collaborates with all referral sources.
  • Attends group and team meetings as required.
  • Assists with the supervision of interns (at times).
