Requirements

  • Must have current state blasting license.
  • Must have acceptable performance, maintenance, and safety history.
  • Must know mine drilling and blasting standards, production techniques, and equipment.
  • Must know about safety and environmental regulations (MSHA, ATF, OSHA).
  • Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
  • Must be able to use a telephone, computer, cell phone, and other electronic devices.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and excellent driving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Champion Safety by prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
  • Design, prepare, and maintain shot patterns in coordination with Operations Management.
  • Prepare and load drill holes as required and maintain powder magazine inventory on blasting agents.
  • Perform pre-blast inspections of the blast area and conduct pre-shift and post-shift safety inspections.
  • Complete shot reports, equipment reports, and other necessary paperwork daily.
  • Report and assist in resolving any discrepancies with blasting agent inventory and report unsafe mechanical conditions to the supervisor.
  • Operate ANFO truck to load blast holes safely and handle blasting agents with high competency.
