Position Summary The Blanchard Grinder Operator will operate 48” to 100” Blanchard Grinder. This position will be responsible for setup and operate to grind flat surfaces to bring into set tolerances using calipers and micrometers. The ideal candidate must be able to identify and prepare materials per customer’s specification by reading prints to verify dimensions of metal parts in order to accomplish certain tolerances. This is a full-time position; day and night shift available. Operate overhead and or jib crane Setup, adjust and operate a rotary wheel Blanchard grinder Plans operating procedures on rotary wheel machine for flat grinding Makes operating adjustments to calibrate machine adjusting devices to obtain tolerances and finish requirements Uses scale, micrometers and indicators to make setups, adjustments, and to check work Works from part drawings, specifications and grinding instructions Uses magnetic table and chucks or clamps to position and secure workpiece on table of machine using care to support irregular work properly to avoid distortion; or arrange and properly secure multiple-piece setups Select proper statistical tools to maintain process control and quality reliability Inspect and maintain work area and machine fluid levels daily Other duties assigned Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Requirements

  • Rotary Blanchard experience required
  • Ability to read and understand blue prints
  • Experience utilizing forklifts required
  • Must be able to operate a straightening press
  • Must be able to read a tape measure, micrometer and caliper
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Utilize all company provided safety equipment at all times
  • Familiarity with machine tools and equipment
  • Proficient with common machine shop measuring tools
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High School Diploma and/or GED; or equivalent work experience and demonstrated competency may substitute for a degree
  • 3-6 Months experience with Rotary Blanchard Grinding
