About the role Job Summary The Production Worker / Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and inspecting products to ensure they meet quality and safety standards. This role supports the manufacturing process by identifying defects, maintaining equipment, and following production protocols. This job profile is intended for support staff that follows established procedures and works under close supervision. Smaller/easier decisions are made autonomously. Blading Technician Business Unit: Sulzer Turbo Services, Houston, Inc. Department: Core Reports to: Blade Management Shift Working hours will be determined by work load and shift coverage needs. Typically, Day shift will begin at 5:00AM and end between 1:30PM and 5:00PM; Night shift will begin between 3:30PM and at 5:00PM and end between 12:00AM and 5:00AM. Company Overview: Sulzer Turbo Services (STS) is an independent provider of services and repairs of critical turbomachinery. We specialize in the repair, overhaul, and replacement of parts for high-speed rotating equipment such as steam and gas turbines, compressors, expanders, and other industrial rotating equipment found primarily in the Oil & Gas, Pipeline, Petrochemical, Ammonia, Nitric Acid, Fertilizer and Power Generation markets. Position Summary Perform a variety of tasks to include but not limited to deblading, wheel/blade inspection, manufacturing shroud, peening tenons, installing seals and ensuring compliance with specification and quality requirements. This position required experience working on steam turbine rotating and stationary equipment

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have experience working with turbo machinery
  • Must have the required tools to perform their expected tasks
  • Must be able to work overtime when necessary
  • Must be able to use precision measuring instruments
  • Experience as a Machinist running small Mills / Lathes
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Have and maintain ability to use and operate the overhead cranes, torches, grinders and forklifts

Responsibilities

  • De-blade and inspect rotors utilizing the specified de-blade inspection reports
  • Complete all documentation pertaining to the work assignment
  • Re-blade rotors utilizing the specified engineering instructions
  • Manufacture and install blade shrouds utilizing the specified engineering instructions
  • Work closely and clearly communicate with the other departments, Blade personnel, Supervisor, and Lead Man
  • Maintain LEAN objectives within the department
  • Comply with the requirements of risk assessments and safety procedures
  • Use PPE as identified in risk assessments or other related safety documents
  • Do not undertake activities that have not been risk assessed, or where an assessment is not available or understood
  • Report any instances of spillage, uncontrolled exposure or other related safety issues to their line manager
  • Ensure the correct use of waste segregation facilities and the efficient use of natural resources and raw materials
