About The Position
TalentFish is casting a line for a Business Information Security Officer (BISO) – University. This is a Full Time role supporting University / Academic Environment. This is a new position that is created to embed cybersecurity strategy into daily operations while supporting a culture of security-first behaviors.
Requirements
- Experience supporting higher education, research, or academic institutions
- Knowledge of FERPA, research data protections, and academic compliance requirements
- 5–7 years of information security, GRC, or security awareness experience
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to translate cybersecurity strategy into academic operations

Responsibilities
- Serve as the cybersecurity liaison for university leadership, faculty, and staff
- Lead security awareness and training tailored to academic and research environments
- Support compliance with FERPA, NIST, and institutional security policies
- Identify and mitigate cybersecurity risks related to research, data sharing, and systems
- Embed security practices into university operations and initiatives
