About The Position

As a Biostatistician II at The Ohio State University, you will function as a biostatistician supporting biomedical research projects across the health sciences as a member of the Center for Biostatistics (CFB). In this role, you will advise study investigators on protocol development, study design, statistical analysis plans, sample size/power calculations, and the interpretation of study data. Collaborating closely with investigators, you will provide guidance on biostatistical needs, including support for grant submissions, journal articles, technical reports, and abstracts. Your responsibilities will include conducting and interpreting analyses of research data using descriptive statistics, basic inferential tests, and advanced statistical procedures. You will work with investigators to ensure the accuracy and validity of research data, resolving potential data issues as they arise. Additionally, you will support dissemination efforts by compiling results, preparing reports, providing statistical summaries, and generating tables and graphics for publication. As a biostatistician II, you will mentor, oversee, and train junior biostatisticians. You will also have the opportunity to attend and present at relevant scientific or statistical conferences, seminars, and workshops. Furthermore, you will support activities within the CFB through membership and service on committees and working groups. This is a hybrid position. In-person work is required a minimum of 3 days per week.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable.
  • 4 years of relevant experience required.
  • Considerable knowledge and proficiency in at least one statistical programming language, such as SAS, R, or Stata, is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Additional coursework in epidemiology, public health, biology, or medicine is desired.
  • Experience in preparing grant applications and managing large datasets using SQL and similar programming languages.
