About The Position

The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Operates, transports and performs service and first-echelon maintenance on articulating rubber-tired loaders, pumps, straight dump truck (up to 20-ton capacity), tractor/trailer dump, tractor/trailer tanker, mobile fuel pods, and septic tank truck. Properly loads sludge and liquids onto trucks. Operates dump trucks, tractor trailers, tanker trucks to transport biosolids to appropriate disposal sites. Transports, sets up, operates, and performs service and first-echelon maintenance upon the following additional equipment to perform essential functions of the job under both standard and emergency response scenarios during storm events and major repair operations: mobile (permanent trailer-mounted) pumps, mobile (permanent trailer-mounted) solids loading towers, mobile (permanent trailer-mounted) generators, mobile (permanent trailer-mounted) light towers. Performs site inspections and monitors compliance with land application policies, procedures, and regulations. Collects biosolids / soil samples for laboratory analysis. Performs routine tests as required and records results. Enters data into database and generates required reports. Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of work performed. Inspects equipment for proper and safe working conditions. Cleans and maintains assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment. Receives and responds to inquiries, complaints, and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility. Serves on scheduled on call 24/7 rotation to provide heavy equipment operation, heavy transportation, and tanking or hauling for emergency incidents and storm events pertaining to the plants or collection system. Attends conferences, meetings, training, seminars, etc., as necessary to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills. Management may assign additional duties as trained for and qualified to do so related to the work of the position as necessary.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid state Position “A” CDL driver’s license with tanker endorsement.
  • Requires high school diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training.
  • Must possess or obtain within 2 years of employment a S.C. Position “D” Biological Wastewater Operator license.
