About The Position

The Biosecurity & Quality Control Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the health, safety, and productivity of the hatchery by enforcing strict biosecurity protocols and ensuring consistent quality standards. This position is responsible for monitoring flock and facility conditions, conducting inspections and audits, and supporting disease prevention efforts. The technician works closely with hatchery management and production teams to identify risks, implement corrective actions, and uphold regulatory and company standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License and insurability required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret important instructions, guidelines, and/or communications and respond accordingly
  • Must be willing to handle live poultry

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Production Team’s schedule to support daily hatchery operations.
  • Monitors biosecurity protocols across all hatchery operations.
  • Conducts routine inspections of the facility, equipment, and personnel practices to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Audits adherence to sanitation procedures, including proper use of PPE, disinfectants, and controlled access points.
  • Collects environmental, water, and biological samples for testing and analysis.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records of biosecurity measures, test results, and quality metrics.
  • Monitors hatchery performance indicators such as hatchability, chick quality, and mortality rates.
  • Identifies deviations from quality standards and assists in root cause analysis.
  • Collaborates with hatchery leadership and production teams to implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Supports internal and external audits by preparing documentation and ensuring compliance readiness.
  • Trains and guides staff on biosecurity protocols and quality control procedures.
  • Reports potential risks, disease concerns, or compliance issues in a timely manner.
  • Stays up to date with industry best practices, animal welfare standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance hatchery efficiency, safety, and product quality.
  • Performs egg breakouts and ensures proper handling and documentation.
  • Fills hatchery footbaths daily and as needed.
  • Assists with hatchery operations as needed to ensure efficiency and chick quality.
  • Conducts checks on sexed birds to minimize loss and ensure accuracy among team members.
  • Performs and submits NPIP testing in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Conducts TSC testing and ensures timely and accurate reporting of results.
