About The Position

MPF Federal is seeking a Biosafety and Logistics Technician Purchasing, Shipping and Receiving Technician I to support the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC), Operational Infectious Diseases (OID) Directorate to oversee shipping/receiving/warehouse/purchasing and inventory control of equipment, supplies, and specimens. The OID Directorate conducts laboratory-based surveillance to monitor and study infectious diseases affecting U.S. military populations, providing critical data to help guide health and operational decisions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 1 year of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or laboratory operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with proficiency in inventory management and procurement.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with vendors, supervisors, and staff.
  • Ability to learn and retain knowledge of organizational programs and their logistical support needs.
  • Physical ability to sit or stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including word processing and data entry.
  • Must be available to work onsite Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with flexibility to adjust hours as needed.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in research or laboratory settings, particularly in infectious disease.
  • Familiarity with biosafety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience supporting disease surveillance operations.
  • Experience in facilitating shipment and receipt of test specimens.
  • Familiarity with federal and military procurement and logistics policies.
  • Experience training support staff.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to established policies, procedures, and safety protocols while building competency in logistics operations.
  • Shipping/Receiving:
  • Follows and improves shipping/receiving procedures under the guidance of the Safety and Logistics supervisor and Sr. Laboratory Manager.
  • Coordinates shipment and distribution of equipment, supplies, documents, and materials as directed by the onsite supervisor.
  • Coordinates specimen shipping and receiving activities with internal/external stakeholders and in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for shipment of laboratory supplies and etiologic agents to locations within/outside the continental United States.
  • Warehouse/Purchasing:
  • Follows and improves warehouse inventory procedures under the guidance of the Safety and Logistics supervisor and Sr. Laboratory Manager.
  • Supports incoming, onsite, and outgoing equipment and supply inventory.
  • Tracks issued equipment and stock levels; prepare correspondence on procurement requests for supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Assist property managers in tracking the location and use of inventoried items.
  • Monitors warehouse inventory levels and expiration dates, including notifying stakeholders when inventory levels reach defined minimums.
  • Maintain organization of warehouse spaces and inventory.
  • Creates and processes weekly purchase orders for supply procurement via government credit card.
  • Engage with vendors and manufacturers and obtain pricing information.
  • Processes invoices, packing slips and purchase order documentation for laboratory supplies.
