About The Position

Amentum is seeking an experienced candidate for a Biometrics Technician position at Pope AAF, NC in support of a Department of War (DoW) customer. The candidate will conduct biometric collection in support of the customer’s mission area. The individual will perform the day-to-day operation of a complex computer-based biometric and biographic information collection system, maintain collected data, ensuring it is accurate and meets established requirements, and work on-site, directly with the customer on a daily basis.

Requirements

  • Must have an active Secret US Government Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret US Government Clearance with SCI eligibility. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the field of Biometrics or Forensics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to utilize standardized scientific literature and develop effective written reports that are clear, accurate, and logical.
  • The ability to access biometric computer databases and update and retrieve specialized reports.
  • Must possess attention to detail and be able to meet time-critical tasks, perform standardized technical assignments, and work unmonitored.
  • This is a non-remote, full-time on-site position.
  • After-hours or short-term shift work may be required to support urgent customer needs, including weekends and holidays.
  • Frequent local travel is required with occasional travel outside of the local area.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, working at a desk or in the laboratory.
  • Ability to lift various sizes of materials and equipment (up to 50lbs).

Nice To Haves

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, or Forensic Science.
  • Four or more years of relevant experience working in the field of Biometrics or Forensics.
  • Prior military or law enforcement experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collect biometrics and biographical data using commercial off-the-shelf (COTs) and government off-the-shelf (GOTs) biometrics collection equipment.
  • Provide detailed briefings explaining biometric collection requirements and directing self-collection of biometric samples.
  • Enter data into computer systems via computer terminal with information gained from direct contact with persons being registered.
  • Identify collection errors or omissions.
  • Take appropriate action to obtain required information or data by conducting research of archival records, computer listings, and other pertinent data for corrective actions.
  • Reconcile any discrepancies.
  • Conduct quality assurance ensuring accuracy and completeness of collected data.
  • Conduct training on the use and operation of portable and fixed registration systems IAW systems’ user guides.
  • Ensure communication lines remain open between all stakeholders to include military personnel, government civilians, and contractors to foster positive working relationships and to ensure product satisfaction, streamlined scheduling, and deconfliction.
  • Understand and apply Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification (EBTS) standards to meet operational requirements of the government sponsor.
  • Utilize established procedures, formats, and software tools, as necessary, to ensure timely reporting of biometric data for training support operations.
  • Attend biometrics related seminars, working groups, and test events designed to improve biometric collection systems and procedures.
  • Provide technical biometric expertise as required in the Research & Development (R&D) and Operational Evaluation (OE) of government programs.
  • Recommend for purchase, manage, prepare, receive, and inventory COTs and GOTs software and hardware solutions, by conducting test events, attending working groups; researching solutions online and during conferences and/or symposiums for products best suited for employment to meet the requirements of the government sponsor.
  • Research and update current Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) ensuring they are in-line with industry specifications.
