About The Position

This is an opportunity to work with the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) to administer the nation’s lawful immigration system. As a Biometric Technician (BT), you will support a government program in Alexandria, VA, as part of a dynamic team assisting the USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) operations. Amentum provides all required job training for qualified candidates. This is a part-time position, with employees expected to be available Monday through Friday between 7:45am and 4:15pm, or for specific coverage times as needed. This is not a regular full-time role. Part-time employees have a set schedule of hours, though changes may occur with short notice based on applicant volume and site needs. Employees are regularly scheduled for 20 hours a week, but this can be adjusted.

Requirements

Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization (US Citizenship is required for this work location).
A High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to speak and write in English.
Ability to stand upright on one’s feet for scheduled shift duration, excluding meals and breaks.
Ability to hold and grasp applicant’s hands to obtain quality fingerprints.
Ability to work in a high paced environment with the public.
Ability to type and use basic computer skills.
Successful completion of the biometrics training and become certified within sixty days.

Responsibilities

Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States.
Ensure all who enter the ASC are approved applicants and visitors, providing interior and exterior crowd control and assisting staff in enforcing ASC rules and policies.
Provide front-line customer service as representatives of Amentum and on behalf of the United States Government.
Provide applicants with the highest level of customer service, displaying a cheerful and inviting demeanor, smiling, and managing applicants with sensitivity, courtesy, and respect.
Safeguard all areas where Personal Identifiable Information (PII) is vulnerable, including applicant’s paperwork, identifications, electronic biometric data, and reports.
Perform quality biometrics processing, including capturing electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established program-wide processing times.
Screen applicants entering the facility to ensure they have a valid appointment notice and identification.
Utilize crowd control barriers (stanchions or rails) to ensure a safe and organized entry into the facility.
Visually inspect applicants and their belongings prior to allowing entry into the facility.
During national pandemics or other health crises, ask applicants questions about their status of illness and decline entry to the ASC per customer requirements if necessary.
Conduct periodic facility checks (both interior and exterior) and report any concerns to the Site Supervisor.
Assist the Site Supervisor and/or government Immigration Service Officer in calling local law enforcement or first responders when necessary.
Manage and complete administrative paperwork accurately, such as tracking processing time for applicants, reconciliation paperwork of biometrics captured, assisting in maintaining a visitor control log for non-applicants, signing off on facility checks, and other administrative duties.
