About The Position

Independence Plus has an immediate opening for a Biomedical Technician to work out of our Oak Brook, IL (DuPage County) office. This position reports to the Warehouse Operations Manager and plays a critical role in ensuring that patients receive safe, reliable, and effective medical equipment in their homes. The Biomedical Technician supports daily operations by maintaining equipment functionality, providing education, and upholding the company’s standards for quality and compliance.

Requirements

  • Strong technical knowledge of medical equipment used in homecare settings (e.g., oxygen therapy devices, ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP units, and enteral pumps).
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Excellent documentation and organizational habits.
  • Professional communication skills when interacting with patients, caregivers, and team members.
  • Ability to be dependable, work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize service calls.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
  • Physical capability to lift, move, and transport equipment safely.
  • Previous experience in homecare, DME, or clinical biomedical support.
  • Familiarity with respiratory equipment and life-support devices.
  • Understanding of regulatory standards such as FDA, OSHA, and Joint Commission guidelines.
  • Manufacturer-specific training or certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Install, set up, and test medical equipment. Ensuring proper functionality and safety.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, calibration, and safety checks on all assigned devices.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and complete repairs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Document all service activities, including maintenance logs, repair notes, and equipment tracking.
  • Provide clear instructions to staff and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of tools, parts, and replacement equipment.
  • Ensure all work complies with company policies, manufacturer guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff, customer service, and logistics teams to support patient needs.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying equipment issues, safety concerns, or process enhancements.
