About The Position

Biomedical Technician (BMET) is responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance on all types of patient care equipment at Goshen Hospital and associated physician practices and clinics. BMET will perform preventive maintenance procedures in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. BMET will troubleshoot equipment problems to effect repairs in a timely manner. BMET will order parts and complete all associated documentation. Must be proficient working with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), such as AIMS, Four Rivers, etc. Must be proficient in the use of test equipment such as digital multimeter, electrical safety analyzer, patient simulator, defibrillator tester, etc. Must have excellent communication and people skills. Position Qualifications: Education Minimum: High School graduate. Preferred: AS in Biomedical Equipment Technology or better. Experience Minimum: Two years experience repairing electromechanical medical equipment, preferably in a hospital setting. Preferred: Three to five years experience maintaining all types of patient care equipment, e.g., patient monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators, defibrillators, ESUs, telemetry, etc. Relevant experience as a BMET will be considered in lieu of education, e.g., military-trained BMET. CBET or other certification is a plus. Education and professional development opportunities exist for the successful candidate. There is also potential to expand into imaging modalities.

Requirements

  • Must have excellent communication and people skills.
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • AS in Biomedical Equipment Technology or better
  • Three to five years experience maintaining all types of patient care equipment, e.g., patient monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators, defibrillators, ESUs, telemetry, etc.
  • Relevant experience as a BMET will be considered in lieu of education, e.g., military-trained BMET
  • CBET or other certification
