About The Position

The Biomedical Tech I is an entry level position which provides a means of hiring individuals who possess the minimum educational requirements in the fields of electronics or Biomedical Technology but who lack the practical job experience required for the Tech II position. This individual is capable of performing basic skilled work under close supervision. Duties and Responsibilities include: -Assists with the development of preventive maintenance procedures and conducting preventive maintenance inspections. -Records measurements taken during each preventive maintenance cycle. -Completes inventory and safety inspections of newly acquired equipment and annual safety inspections as required. -Notifies department managers when these measurements reflect negative changes in equipment performance indicating a need for replacement or repair. -Completes all Medical Center required documentation including detailed CM and PM work order histories in TMS regarding repairs. -Conducts corrective maintenance to basic Bio-Medical equipment while building skills necessary to service more complex systems. -Selects and requisitions repair parts and maintains a manageable parts inventory. -Assists senior technicians during equipment installations. This position is not required to participate in the Bio-Medical On-Call Program. This individual will be considered for promotion to the Tech II position once the minimum job experience has been satisfied.

Requirements

  • Biomedical Equipment Technician Certificate as well as HS diploma or GED- required or;
  • Associates degree or two (2) year technical degree in biomedical equipment technology or;
  • Associates degree or two (2) year technical degree in electronics technology or;
  • B.S degree with emphasis in biomedical equipment/electronics technology.
  • Regarding Educational requirements 1, 2, or 3; No BMET or practical electronics equipment troubleshooting experience will be required.
  • An individual lacking the educational requirements listed above may still be eligible provided he/she possesses three (3) years of practical troubleshooting experience, two (2) of which have preferably been completed in the Bio-Medical field.
