About The Position

The Biomedical Equipment Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining and ensuring the functionality of medical equipment within the hospital. This position involves a variety of essential duties including equipment maintenance, cleaning, and providing technical assistance during critical procedures. The technician is expected to work collaboratively with other departments and may be required to respond to calls outside of normal working hours.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with computer use and navigation.
• 1-3 years experience with Biomedical equipment (preferred).
• Certification in endoscope reprocessing or ability to obtain certification after one year (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the equipment maintenance process by performing essential duties.
• Locate, clean, and deliver equipment for scheduled and corrective maintenance.
• Perform periodic cleaning of ventilator filters and refilling portable oxygen strollers.
• Conduct high-level disinfecting of endoscopes and perform minor electrical and mechanical equipment inspections.
• Track medical equipment locations and provide immediate technical assistance during critical procedures.
• Collect medical equipment and transport it to Biomedical Engineering for repair and maintenance.
• Perform minor preventive maintenance checks on selected mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Clean equipment prior to repair or maintenance procedures.
• Inventory and replenish equipment reserves/spares as required or requested.
• Communicate effectively with departments on work order statuses.
