The Biomedical Equipment Technician I shall include, but are not limited to: Initial inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, general maintenance, and repair of medical and non-medical general support equipment (medical package tools and equipment, i.e. generators, environmental control units, etc.).

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduated from The DoD Biomedical Maintenance Course or an accredited civilian Biomedical Maintenance Course.
  • Minimum 2 years of field experience in performing initial inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, general maintenance, and repair of medical equipment within Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidance.
  • Must have a Secret clearance.
  • Basic knowledge of biomedical equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems related to medical devices.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical manuals and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
  • Effective communication skills to provide technical support and document service activities.

  • Advanced degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Must follow original equipment manufacturer guidance, AFI, regulations and unit direction.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and calibration of biomedical equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in medical devices, performing necessary repairs or coordinating with vendors for service when required.
  • Maintain detailed service records, documenting repairs, maintenance actions, and performance evaluations.
  • Assist in the installation and configuration of new biomedical equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
