About The Position

This is a Full-Time entry level position for a Biomedical Technician just starting their career. Under close supervision the Biomedical Technician will perform preventative maintenance on biomedical equipment. Primary duties will include Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections and Electrical Safety Testing (EST) of medical equipment and electronic devices. The Biomedical Technician will be responsible for conducting incoming inspections, creating work order request, completing basic repairs and ensuring that all work is documented within Sarnova policies. Requirements

  • Education: A.A.S. Degree or Certification preferred; High School Diploma Required
  • Possesses a basic understanding of electromechanical devices and principals, as well as a basic knowledge of industry testing equipment and simulators
  • Mechanically inclined, technical skills and abilities to figure out how things work
  • Attention to Detail; Taking responsibility for a thorough and detail method of working
  • Innovation; has open mind and seeks to continuously improve processes and metrics; readily supports and leads change and can adapt to daily challenges
  • Ability to stand for long continuous periods of time
  • May engage in some repetitive motion
  • May engage in frequent bending, stooping, pushing and pulling of parts and part containers
  • Due to the open environment of the warehouse, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold
  • Ability to occasionally sit, climb or balance; ability to climb ladders up to 15 feet
  • Ability to continuously lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh 50+ pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proper methods and techniques of installation, calibration, preventive maintenance and repair troubleshooting for their designated modality.
  • Instruct customers and staff in applications and operations of the equipment and to resolve equipment problems.
  • Perform manufacturer-mandated equipment modifications and satisfactorily complete the required paperwork.
  • Be able to perform all system service diagnostics on applicable products.
  • Some travel required to perform Preventative Maintenance onsite for customers and/or manufacturer training.
  • Maintains a good personal relationship with fellow co-workers, hospital staff, and vendors
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge and use of required test equipment and the electronics, including pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical knowledge and skills.
  • Interpret and effectively utilize service manuals, schematics and other applicable service information required to perform and document preventive maintenance
  • Other projects and duties as assigned
