About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Engineering Program Manager, responsible for the duties relating to the purchase operation, safety, maintenance, and quality assurance of patient care equipment as outlined by the Medical Equipment Plan and following organizational and departmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent in Biomedical Electronics or Electronics Engineering Technology
  • Valid and current Michigan drivers license
  • Associates degree or equivalent in Biomedical Electronics or Electronics Engineering Technology
  • Certified Biomedical Electronics Technician (CBET) certification
  • Valid and current Michigan drivers license

  • Two years of experience maintaining and repairing medical electronic equipment.
  • Two years of experience maintaining and repairing medical electronic equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the implementation of the Medical Equipment Management Plan that assesses and controls the risk of medical equipment and assures compliance of requirements of all regulating agencies. Equipment management includes the following:
  • Maintains an accurate and up to date inventory of equipment
  • Assures all equipment has inspection procedures for safety, performance and PM's
  • Perform pre-acceptance inspection of equipment prior to initial use
  • Assures all equipment has a routine inspection schedule
  • Performs routine inspections on equipment
  • Assures all equipment has accurate and up to date service histories and statuses
  • Serves as liaison between the Clinical Engineering Department and the users of medical technology.
  • Performs pre-purchase evaluations on equipment as assigned to ensure equipment meets medical engineering requirements.
  • Maintains technical competency and remaining current on standards and regulations for medical equipment and its application.
  • Utilizes technical expertise to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Performs general repair of equipment as assigned.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation as determined by the Clinical Engineering Manager.
  • Participates in Medical Center and/or departmental quality assessments and continuous quality improvement opportunities, goal setting, collection and evaluation of data, implementation of action plans, or related applications.
