Sodexo is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician I for UTMB (the University of Texas Medical Branch) located in Clear Lake, TX. For more than a century, the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) has served the needs of Texas and Texans from its large Galveston campus, long anchored by the John Sealy Hospital. Established in 1891 as the University of Texas Medical Department, UTMB has grown from one building, 23 students and 13 faculty members to a modern health science center with campuses in Galveston, League City and Angleton, more than 3,200 students and about 900 faculty. Sodexo’s growing Healthcare Technology Management Division is seeking solution-oriented candidates who excel at customer service with a proven success as an experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician I to support Healthcare Technology service for UTMB in Galveston, TX. The main role/responsibilities of the position will be to ensure all related biomedical equipment is maintained in a quality and timely manner. The ideal candidate will have outstanding customer service and communications skill as well as strong technical skills and a commitment to deliver excellent repair service in an expedient manner. A valid driver’s license and acceptable driver’s license record check is required.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience repairing, maintaining, and calibrating medical devices independently.
  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • The ability to make decisions regarding troubleshooting and repairing medical devices.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and time management skills.
  • Experience effectively repairing, maintaining and calibrating clinical devices such as: General Biomedical Devices- Nurse call, Natus, and Philips Patient Monitors, ESU’s, Vital sign machines, Defibrillators, AD’s, Telemetry, EKG, IV Infusion Pumps, plus OR, and Ventilators (not all are required).
  • Minimum Education Requirement - Associates Degree (or equivalent experience) in electronic, biomedical engineering or a discipline geared toward managing maintaining and repairing clinical equipment within a healthcare environment
  • Minimum Functional Experience - 3 years of experience in electronic, mechanical or electro-mechanical repair in a health care technology setting

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, maintain and calibrate a basic range of clinical equipment, devices, systems and instruments.
  • Provide advanced support of equipment for direct patient care.
  • Interact on a routine basis with clinical health providers in the identification of technology-based problems and solutions.
  • Solve organization-level customer service issues and complaints.
  • Prepare required documentation and reports and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Financial responsibility for purchasing parts and services and demonstrate a safety mindset.
