Under minimal supervision, this role will provide expert level experience in repair and calibration and maintenance of medical equipment, instrumentation and support systems used in healthcare delivery. Execute inventory assessment/audits and preventive maintenance checks of medical equipment and supplies. Provide remedial corrective maintenance and maintain documentation of all service events, tests, and maintenance performed on clinical equipment. Individuals will maintain good personal relationships with fellow workers, nursing, medical staff, vendors, manufacturers, and the public. Individuals will be expected to participate in meetings, seminars, training, workshops, and conferences as required. Will maintain a clean and safe workplace. This role will require Bio-Medical technician to be available during all business hours. They must be prepared to respond to emergencies impacting Bio-Medical systems and participate with the Operations team to ensure timely renewal of service. This could include on-call services as well depending on the needs of the business.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • A valid Oregon driver's license with a good driving record; or the ability to obtain an Oregon driver's license within 6 months from date of hire.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Knowledge of codes, standards and compliance issues relating to the Biomedical Engineering profession.
  • Proven ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic and electromechanical equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Proven ability to run diagnostic programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and illustrated parts drawings of biomedical instrumentation.
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate records of repairs, calibration, and tests.
  • Demonstrated ability to demonstrate competency in the use and operation of all required test equipment.
  • Occasionally moves/transports/positions/installs/removes/replaces equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays if necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Biomedical Equipment Technician through the International Certification Commission.

Responsibilities

  • Participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards document.
  • Expedite immediate corrective action and/or report problems to appropriate personnel of potential or actual safety hazards of clinical equipment as needed.
  • Assist departments in capital equipment planning; assist in identifying and recommending replacement of equipment that is obsolete, has extensive repair history, or has identified safety issues.
  • Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect complex medical equipment, instrumentation, and systems.
  • Perform routine repairs, inspections, and installations of medical equipment and tools.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment and devices.
  • Recommend new equipment and testing procedures.
  • Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures.
  • Set priorities and organize routine and emergency tasks to best meet the changing demands of clinical services.
  • Notify departments regarding the status of repairs and work with departments to obtain loaner or replacement equipment as required.
  • Coordinate the availability of clinical equipment for preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Review and monitor completion of preventive maintenance activities performed by outside vendors.
  • Review the outcome of preventive maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, tracking both the addition and the deactivation of clinical equipment.
  • Work with Procurement, IT, and Clinical departments on the purchasing process to ensure timely acquisition of equipment.
  • Assist, manage, and monitor third-party repairs.
  • Provide educational programs on the use of equipment to medical staff.
  • Collaborate with Information Systems to ensure HIPAA compliance and connectivity of biomedical devices.
  • Understand and comply with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Provide engineering and technical counsel on codes and other regulatory standards to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Provide support and management for all bio-medical services delivered by a vendor to the business.
