About The Position

The Biomedical Equipment Technician III (BMET III) is called upon to resolve the most complex issues related to repair, maintenance and integration of highly sophisticated medical technology systems. The BMET III must possess expert level knowledge and skills on at least two specialized medical technology device types. Some examples of these medical devices are: Networked physiological monitoring systems, specialized Medical Laboratory equipment, various Respiratory Therapy equipment and ventilators, highly specialized surgical systems, X-ray systems, or medical device security. The BMET III also serves as a technology expert/consultant, assisting in the identification and evaluation of multiple medical technology life-cycle initiatives. The BMET III will also provide the following services: incoming equipment inspections, installation, recall & alert activities and calibration & repair of medical devices. The BMET III position is the senior-level position for Clinical Engineering and Biomedical Equipment Services.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree and 5 years of experience in Electronic, Mechanical, IT, or Healthcare industry OR High School diploma, Certification from The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)/ Department of Defense (DOD) and 6 years of experience in Electronic, Mechanical, IT, or Healthcare industry.
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology education completed with 1 year of hire
  • Medical Terminology education completed within 1 year of hire
  • Advanced Biomedical Equipment Service “vendor” training (patient monitoring, electrosurgical, infusion)

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Military Training in Technical Field Medical Device experience
  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or Certified Laboratory Equipment Specialist (CLES) certification through The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).
