About The Position

Under general supervision of the Director of Clinical Engineering, the Biomedical Equipment Technician I (BMET I) is an entry-level technician responsible for the installation and inspection of a wide range of medical equipment and medical equipment networks. The BMET I perform inspections on new equipment, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and supports clinical staff in the safe and effective use of medical equipment. This role requires a fundamental understanding of electronics, medical technology, medical networks and troubleshooting practices. This position requires travel to and from all Atlantic Health sites. Requirements

  • This role requires a fundamental understanding of electronics, medical technology, medical networks and troubleshooting practices.
  • This position requires travel to and from all Atlantic Health sites.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control standards, and Joint Commission and regulatory requirements
  • Exhibits problem solving skills including testing, basic troubleshooting techniques and issue resolution.
  • Possesses the ability to follow manufacturer's procedures for preventive maintenance inspection, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and operation verification procedures on PCs, peripherals, medical networks and general medical equipment.
  • Exhibits a comprehensive understanding and can demonstrate the use of required hand tools, PC troubleshooting commands.
  • Work with and document the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery and vendor documentation.
  • Significant working knowledge of physiology, anatomy and medical terminology with emphasis in clinical application and troubleshooting. Develop biomedical understanding through ongoing work experience, training and education.
  • Assume 24-hour on-call repair responsibilities.
  • Exhibits a comprehensive understanding and can communicate the operation of devices supported.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repair, and inspection activities in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Participate in on-the-job training and continuing education programs to develop technical skills.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and changes in medical equipment regulations.
