About The Position

This position is for a Biomedical Engineering Technician II at UW Health, focusing on making a significant impact on patient care by ensuring the functionality of critical medical equipment. The role involves performing essential preventive maintenance, diagnosing and repairing equipment in various high-stakes environments such as operating rooms, trauma units, emergency rooms, and other patient care areas. A key aspect of the job is maintaining accurate and timely records of all service activities to minimize equipment downtime and support patient recovery.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
  • 1 year experience working with biomedical, electrical, electronics, IT, or mechanical equipment
  • Valid driver’s license in the person’s state of residence
  • Must be 21 years of age or have three (3) years of driving experience to operate a Patient/Visitor Vehicle or UW Health Vehicle other than a golf cart or utility terrain vehicle

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering
  • 2 years previous experience as Biomedical Engineering Technician or electronics related technical field experience
  • OEM or computer system certifications applicable to UW Health

Responsibilities

  • Perform and record preventive maintenance of equipment through periodic performance checks and measurements.
  • Diagnose and implement repairs both in shop and critical care settings including operating rooms, trauma units, emergency rooms, and various other patient care areas in a timely manner to minimize down time.
  • Keep accurate records of all maintenance activities performed on assigned medical equipment and update the department database of this record of service, completely and promptly
