About The Position

Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing top quality and safe healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities since 1917. Aiken Regional Medical Centers has been ranked a top hospital in South Carolina by the American Heart Association for its treatment of heart attack, heart failure and Stroke, and most recently, coronary artery disease. Additionally, Aiken Regional provides comprehensive healthcare services such as behavioral health (Aurora Pavilion Behavioral Health), emergency medical care (main hospital and ER at Sweetwater), orthopedic surgeries, maternity, rehabilitation services (Hitchcock Rehabilitation Services), imaging, and wound care. Under some supervision, UHS HTM BMET I performs evaluations, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance on devices used in the care and treatment of patients at assigned UHS facilities. Focuses performance to ensure the safest and best possible patient experience. Delivers exceptional service to all customers that meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements and compliance. Assists in developing and strengthening facility and vendor relationships. Meets all established key performance indicator (KPI) requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in electronics, electromechanical or medical equipment or completion of an accredited Healthcare Technology Management program.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' experience with healthcare technology programs preferred.
  • Moderate medical equipment knowledge (manufacturers, models, modalities, device types).
  • General understanding of regulatory requirements of medical devices (CMS, TJC, CLIA, AABB, NRC, State, Local).
  • Moderate computer skills (Microsoft products).
  • Moderate experience with computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) products.
  • Professional Certification preferred (CBET, CRES, CLES, CABT, CHTM, PMP, AWS-CSAA, CISSP, CAN, MLT, CRCST and/or other professional certifications as deemed pertinent by the hiring director).

Responsibilities

  • Works with HTM Leadership, and facility leadership/coworkers to effectively manage the HTM program to deliver program excellence.
  • Develops and sustains vendor relationships, as well as coworker relationships.
  • Works with the assigned UHS facilities to develop, maintain and sustain a 5-year capital plan for devices included in the CMMS database.
  • Facilitates device evaluations, as assigned, for medical devices.
  • Assists UHS HTM leadership with identifying and suggesting devices for device acquisition and/or replacement.
  • Provides reporting through the use of the CMMS database.
  • Develops and/or customizes CMMS reports necessary for all HTM operations.
  • Routinely performs the corrective and preventive maintenance of devices and all related follow-up communications.
  • Travels to other sites as directed/needed.
  • Understands and properly operates test equipment required for the repair and maintenance of devices in the HTM Program.
