Learn more at tandemdiabetes.com A DAY IN THE LIFE: Biomedical Engineers at Tandem are responsible for developing and running insulin compatibility, biocompatibility, leachable and extractable testing for various insulin pump platforms and configurations. A Biomedical Engineer at Tandem also: Executes test protocols for Insulin Compatibility testing that includes test setup, programing profiles for pumping, sample preparation and sample collection. Supports vendor relationships and testing with outsourced laboratories by reviewing quotes, placing orders for the testing, preparing, and shipping the samples. Participates in test planning and scheduling as well as compiles manages test results and writes reports that will be used to support regulatory submissions for our products. Reviews specifications for test fixtures and pumping profiles to support insulin compatibility testing. Reviews test protocols and specifications to verify test fixtures and system performance. Documents test verification in reports with supporting data. Participates in formulation of hypotheses, design experiments, and conducts testing to inform decision-making. Writes detailed and easily understood work instructions, test protocols, and test reports. Participates in the defining requirements of mechanical systems, experimental designs and specialized test equipment associated with insulin compatibility testing. Confirms completion of required training plan before assuming job responsibilities. Follows safe practices when handling hazards (biological and chemical) and adheres to proper disposal practices. Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.
