About The Position

UW Medical Center-Northwest – Clinical Engineering has an outstanding opportunity for a Biomedical Electronics Technician 1. WORK SCHEDULE 40 hours per week Day Shift POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Biomedical Equipment Technician 1 receives on-the-job training while performing entry-level biomedical equipment support functions including troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, installing, calibrating, and testing a variety of biomedical instruments, apparatus, systems and equipment

Requirements

  • An Associate's Degree in Biomedical Technology OR Equivalent education/experience OR Certification by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) as a candidate

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with inspecting and installing medical and related technical equipment in medical and research facilities
  • Learn to properly service multiple specific types of equipment and apparatus such as patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood gas analyzers, x-ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood pressure transducers, spirometers, sterilizers, diathermy equipment and other related technical equipment
  • Learn to repair, calibrate, and maintain specific types of medical equipment and how to properly maintain required documentation
  • Learn to effectively communicate with customers keeping them fully informed of the status of repairs
  • Learn to properly safety test medical equipment to ensure patient and staff safety with regard to electrical or mechanical hazards
  • Learn to consult with medical or research staff to ascertain that the equipment functions properly and safely
