About The Position

The Biomedical Assistant serves as the first point of contact for all medical equipment service requests, providing technical support coordination, issue triage, and work order management. This role ensures timely response to equipment issues, supports clinical operations, and enhances communication between clinical staff, biomedical technicians, and vendors. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Works in various departments and locations within the organization. Standing on feet, pushing equipment, and frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and pulling will be required. Must be able to adapt to different personalities and stressful situations, not allowing them to interfere with the accuracy or quality of work performed. Subject to the hazard of contact with patients with communicable diseases and combative patients. Subject to exposure to blood-borne pathogens, dangerous and odorous chemicals, and specimens (cleaning and disinfecting agents, chemicals, and preservatives). Occasional exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals is possible. May be exposed to electrical hazards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (May be allowed to sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6-months)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with basic medical equipment or experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for incoming biomedical service requests via phone, email, and/or ticketing system
  • Triage and prioritize service calls based on urgency, risk, and clinical impact
  • Create, assign, and track work orders in appropriate systems
  • Dispatch biomedical technicians and coordinate service schedules
  • Provide basic troubleshooting guidance to clinical staff when appropriate
  • Monitor open work orders and ensure timely completion and documentation
  • Escalate complex or high-risk issues to appropriate biomedical staff or leadership
  • Maintain accurate equipment records, service histories, and asset data
  • Coordinate with vendors for equipment service, parts, and support
  • Assist with preventive maintenance scheduling and compliance tracking
  • Generate reports on service metrics, response times, and equipment trends
  • Support regulatory compliance efforts (e.g., documentation for audits and inspections)
  • Maintain strong communication with clinical departments regarding equipment status
