We are currently seeking a Biomechanics Associate for our Biomechanics Practice in Phoenix, AZ. In this role, you will work with a multidisciplinary team of experts to solve complex engineering problems relating to human injury analyses in various environments, including automotive, occupational, and recreational. This will involve evaluations of the human body's response to applied forces during crash and accident scenarios, including biomechanical accident reconstruction, assessment of human injury mechanics and injury potential, and characterization of human interaction with safety and occupant protection systems (e.g., seat belts, helmets) with consideration of potential injury mitigation.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biomechanics, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with a wide variety of professionals, including engineers, scientists, managers, attorneys, and administrative staff
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or familiarity with conducting technical analyses pertaining to injury potential, injury mechanisms, and injury mitigation in accident scenarios preferred but not required
  • Experience or familiarity with evaluation of safety and occupant protection systems preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing both technical and non-technical materials to identify key facts and information (this may include reviewing police reports, medical/autopsy records, legal pleadings, expert reports, deposition testimony, photographs, vehicle specifications, testing, and other documentation)
  • Researching, analyzing, and synthesizing relevant scientific journals, publications, and testing
  • Analyzing and synthesizing technical biomechanical data associated with human kinematics and dynamics, injury mechanics, injury tolerance, and safety and protection system performance
  • Assisting in the design, conduct, and analysis of project-specific testing, evaluations, and demonstrations
  • Clearly communicating findings to technical and non-technical audiences via presentations and written reports
  • Managing multiple small and large-scale projects with effective control of project scheduling and implementation of cost-control measures
  • Assisting in conducting novel research, publishing reports and papers in technical journals, and presenting findings at meetings and conferences
  • Actively participating in our Biomechanics Practice and assisting in highlighting the Practice's technical capabilities to clients and the scientific community
