We are currently seeking an Associate for our Biomechanics Practice in Phoenix, AZ. In this role, you will work as part of a team to help our clients solve challenging technical problems which are often urgent, high profile, and multi-disciplinary. You will be involved in a variety of projects with applications such as Smart Wearable Devices, Clinical Research for New Devices and Drugs, Data Science, and Exercise Physiology. You will have the opportunity to define and shape your individual consulting practice based on your skills and interests.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biomechanics, Data Science, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Kinesiology, or a related field
  • Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: human physiological health metrics, human gait/movement, IMUs or other wearable/remote technologies, data science and AI/ML applications within the context of human subjects data, human anatomy and physiology, orthopedic biomechanics
  • Demonstrated experience in study design and associated statistical analyses
  • Demonstrated experience in data science modelling of human health data
  • Experience in quantifying human health metrics and/or performance metrics in various settings
  • Significant experience in computational programming (i.e., Python, MATLAB, R), with an emphasis on signal processing
  • Effective leadership skills and the ability to interact with a wide variety of professionals, including engineers, scientists, managers, attorneys, and administrative staff

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience and expertise in working with large-scale datasets is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Designing, executing, and managing experiments involving human subjects to quantify and interpret explicit health metrics, wellness characteristics, and performance improvements within a variety of environments (clinical, natural, etc.)
  • Deriving, analyzing, and interpreting a variety of complex technology-driven data streams related to human health, wellness, performance, and human-product interactions in a variety of naturalistic use settings
  • Using innovative data science approaches to understand or inform health, wellness, and performance outcomes for a broad range of biomechanical and physiological data streams
  • Researching and reviewing relevant scientific journals, publications, and testing, and then analyzing and synthesizing technical issues involving performance improvements, mechanisms of injury, clinical trial outcomes, and other human movement characteristics
  • Writing proposals to initiate and/or support new opportunities in the human technology sector (e.g. clinical, military, consumer products, sports)
  • Clearly communicating findings via written reports and presentations
  • Demonstrating the ability to synthesize technical information into an easily understood format suitable for presenting to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Actively creating and pursuing opportunities to develop a positive workflow
  • Participating in original research, publishing papers in technical journals, and presenting findings at conferences
