About The Position

The Biology Science Teacher at Danbury Public Schools is responsible for fostering the intellectual, social, and emotional development of high school students in the subject of biology. This role requires the teacher to create an inclusive classroom environment that is free from gender and minority bias, adhering to the principles of Title IX and Affirmative Action policies as established by the Board of Education. The teacher will be directly accountable to the Principal of Danbury High School and will be evaluated based on the Connecticut Teaching Competencies and the standards outlined in the Staff Evaluation Booklet. In this position, the teacher will develop and implement lesson plans that engage students and promote critical thinking and scientific inquiry. The teacher will also be responsible for assessing student progress and adapting instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners. Building strong relationships with students, families, and staff from various backgrounds is essential to support a positive learning environment. The teacher will utilize differentiated instruction techniques to cater to the strengths and challenges of a multicultural and multi-racial classroom. The ideal candidate will possess or be eligible for Connecticut certification in Biology and demonstrate a strong knowledge of the subject matter. The ability to effectively communicate and relate to students and families from diverse backgrounds is crucial. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred, enhancing the teacher's ability to connect with a broader range of students and families.
