About The Position

The Department of Biology at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. This listing is for potential future affiliate faculty needs to teach specific Biology courses. Screening of applicants will occur when course sections need to be filled. The number of these temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the program. As such, not everyone in the applicant pool for this position will be contacted and/or selected to teach.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in biology or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate in Biology or related field.
  • Relevant teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses that may include one or more of the following: Human Biology for Non-Majors (BIO 1000); General Biology Lecture and/or Laboratory (BIO 1080, 1090, 1081, 1091); Human Anatomy and Physiology (BIO 2310 and 2320); General Microbiology (BIO 2400); General Genetics (BIO 3600) and other upper division Biology courses as needed by the department.
  • Deliver course content to students, preparing course materials and lesson plans.
  • Grade student work and provide robust feedback in a timely manner.
  • Address student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
  • Provide online or in-person academic support to students as needed.
  • Maintain office hours and comply with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
  • Adapt and learn new modes of instruction.
