About The Position

The Biologist II (Analyst II) is responsible for performing histological analysis through tissue processing, sectioning, staining, and increasing capacity of the team for extensive therapeutic investigations in multiple pre-clinical animal models. This position will be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to discovering novel medicines for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, and other related neurodegenerative conditions.

Requirements

  • Experience in brain and spinal cord tissues, autostainer (e.g. Leica Bond-RX), slide scanner imaging (e.g. Olympus VS200)
  • Knowledge of relevant image analysis software packages: HALO, QuPATH and ImageJ
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Flexibility and adaptability to a changing work environment with changing priorities
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to document experiments clearly and according to Good Research Practice principles
  • General computer skills including Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel

  • Technical problem solving and process improvement skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field
  • Minimum one (1) year experience with histology
  • Hands-on experience in brain and spinal cord tissues, autostainer (e.g. Leica Bond-RX), slide scanner imaging (e.g. Olympus VS200)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in neuroscience research is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform histological lab techniques including, but not limited to tissue processing, paraffin embedding, tissue sectioning, routine and special tissue staining, imaging and image analysis.
  • Accurately report and record data in notebook
  • Maintain supplies, lab cleanliness and analytical instrumentation, as required.
  • Prepare stock solutions, and keeping shelves and reagent stocked.
  • Present in laboratory/project meetings
  • Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with clients and Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with training
  • Performs testing independently and with limited to no supervision from management.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and provide suggested technical solutions to clients and management.
  • Follows the guidelines set forth in by clients and the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the BV-CPS Quality System.
  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.
