This is a full-time, in-office Biologist II position based in Irvine, offering hands-on collaboration and exposure to diverse projects across the region. A typical day as a Biologist II might start in the field conducting vegetation mapping or sensitive species surveys, followed by data analysis, report writing, or coordinating with project managers. The Biologist II works both independently and collaboratively—balancing field efforts, documentation, and creative problem-solving to meet project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, botany, environmental science, or related field
  • Minimum two years of professional experience as a Biologist II or equivalent in Southern California
  • Experience with biological resource assessments and aquatic resource delineations
  • HAZWOPER, CRAM, and Basic Wetland Delineation certifications
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork and occasional overnight travel
  • Valid California Driver’s License with clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related environmental field
  • Advanced floristic survey experience in Southern California
  • Special-status species survey permits
  • Experience leading field teams, restoration projects, or agency coordination
  • Arborist certification

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and assist with biological surveys, vegetation mapping, and jurisdictional delineations
  • Support construction and restoration monitoring efforts
  • Prepare and contribute to technical reports, impact analyses, and mitigation plans
  • Maintain accurate field notes, maps, and project documentation
  • Assist with grant writing, research, and project coordination
  • Deliver high-quality work on schedule and within budget as a Biologist II
