About The Position

The Biologist I - Marine Option is a permanent, full-time position with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Positions are located in Mobile and Baldwin counties. This is limited management and scientific research work in the study, development, and improvement of state marine resources.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in biology, marine biology, or a related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field, such as research, conservation, or management
  • Strong knowledge of marine ecosystems, ecology, and conservation principles
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field and laboratory research to study and manage marine resources
  • Develop and implement research projects to improve our understanding of marine ecosystems and resources
  • Collaborate with other scientists, managers, and stakeholders to achieve conservation and management goals
  • Analyze and interpret data to inform management decisions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, including other government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private sector entities
  • Participate in the development and implementation of state and federal policies and regulations related to marine resources
