About The Position

The Biologist 3 position at the State of Nevada involves conducting fisheries, wildlife, and habitat management projects and research studies. The role focuses on data collection, analysis, and interpretation, as well as developing and implementing project proposals and work plans. The incumbent will work as an Area Habitat Biologist, coordinating large-scale restoration and rehabilitation projects, providing technical guidance to private landowners, and reviewing planning documents to mitigate impacts on wildlife. The position requires public engagement through presentations and management of wildlife areas in Elko County and the Eastern Region.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in biology, wildlife management, or a closely related field.
• Three years of professional wildlife management experience, including research studies and project proposals.
• Two years of experience as a Biologist II in Nevada State service, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of Nevada's habitats, plants, soils, and rangeland restoration techniques.
• Experience with equipment operation (skid steers, backhoe, forklift), GIS, and databases.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of geo-spatial information systems (GIS).
• Experience with databases related to wildlife management.

Responsibilities
